The Marion duPont Scott Colonial Cup is steeplechase horse racingâs premier event. Known as the place âWhere Winners Become Championsâ, the Colonial Cup draws over 15,000 fans and horsemen from up and down the eastern seaboard. Traditionally held the third Sunday in November, the Colonial Cup provides the seasonâs grand finale - often deciding all the national titles including Jockey of the Year, Trainer of the Year, and Horse of the Year. Established in 1970 as part of the state's Tricentennial Celebration, The Colonial Cup is a memorial to the founder of the eminent race-meet and benefactress of the course, Marion duPont Scott. It is a family day in the country enjoying a host of activities to enchant children and adults alike. We are excited to have this year's event combine America's finest steeplechase horse racing with a shopping mecca of boutiques at the Paddock Shops village, plus infield activities including Jack Russell Terrier Trials, pony rides, pony cart rides, and mule/horse demonstrations. Fun for the whole family!
